Fake ID UK

I have been given a tracking number and when I enter this into the Royal Mail tracking system, I'm shown a message that says 'The system is currently unable to confirm the status of your item with reference XXXXXXXXXXXXX. Please try again later.'

Any ideas why this is?

It's not reached the UK yet. Royal Mail handle the parcel when it enters the UK and that's when you'll be able to track through the Royal Mail website.
